Week 8: Evaluation

Editing my Moodboard

After receiving comments on my moodboard, I realise that it does not seem like a fashion moodboard..So, I was advised to add in runway/fashion pictures.

Final Moodboard

The reason I did not add fashion pictures before, was because I could not find any suitable ones.

However, when I tried searching for the pictures again, I realise that there was some runway pictures I could have used, which gave me some inspiration for my designs as well.

Furthermore, since I had already started on my fabric board, I noticed similar fabrics in the pictures too! This also gave me more idea on what I could do with the fabric, and what kind of effect I could achieve with my current designs and current fabric.

(Task 2:)Colour and Fabric Board Progression

From the fabric that I have selected... I realise that I might have selected too many fabrics of similar texture. So to verify and narrow down my fabric choices, I went to the store to do some research:

 (Dance) Organza VS (Romance) Organdie

I was very skeptical about whether to use organdy or organza, (or if I should just use both) because I was not sure of their difference. However, after feeling the fabric, I realise organdy is a little bit stiffer than organza, so I might just go with organdy because I wanted a bit of contrast of textures between the layers of fabrics.

Indian Voile

Most of the voile I had seen were sheer and drapey, and in particular the Indian voile had this unqiue sheer texture and it drapes really well, which I felt really suited my some parts of my designs.

Swiss Crepe

Currently, I could not find the silk crepe that I had originally intended, but the closest I found (to what I wanted) is the swiss crepe. Although I am still quite confuse about crepe fabrics, but the Swiss crepe has a similar texture and drape as the Indian voile, but with less sheer.

(NEW!) I also found this chiffon fabric which I thought would go well with my designs. Chiffon fabrics I know usually have a silky texture, but besides being super lightweight, this one has a slight rough texture, which was exactly what I wanted.

I noticed that the more common fabrics were all synthetic, made of 100% Polyester.

Random Thoughts

Nationalparks Austria Fashion Show 2016

With the title 'Time and Fallen Leaves' and theme of nature and nostalgia in mind, I thought it would be really cool to incorporate dance in a runway, so as to further and better instil feelings of nostalgia and old memories.
It was always a vision I had: to see fashion being incorporated into dance, and vice versa
